In this honest and heartwarming memoir, Helen Rebanks invites us to experience life in the Lake District as a farmer's wife. Weaving past and present, Helen shares her highs and lows, from the Cumbrian farmhouse kitchen where she taught herself to cook, to braving the Beast from the East, from the endless improvisation of what to make for tea, to the dog gobbling up her daughter's freshly-made birthday cake. These are the days that have shaped her, and the ways she finds the quiet strength to keep going.
