Norfolk Bluey

Despite the vivid neon blue colour of this cocktail, reminiscent of a bad 1980s mix, the orange flavour of the blue curacao combines with the cardamom rich Norfolk Gin to produce a tasty long drink, much more subtle and sophisticated than its colour would suggest. If the colour really bothers you swap triple sec for the curacao.

Glass: highball

Ingredients:

  • 30 ml / 1 oz Norfolk Gin
  • 10 to 15 ml / 1/3 to ½ oz blue curacao or triple sec, depending on your colour preference
  • 5 ml / ¼ oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • Soda water

Method:

  • Pour your gin into a highball filled with crushed ice.
  • Add the lemon juice.
  • Top with soda water leaving space for the curacao.
  • Drizzle the blue curacao over the top.

Garnish: a slice of orange and a small paper umbrella if you are feeling nostalgic for the 80's.

Lemon Silk

Silky smooth and full of zingy lemon, sharp and sweet in equal measure, if you like limoncello you will love this cocktail.

Glass: Martini or cocktail glass

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml / 2 oz Norfolk Gin
  • 15 ml / ½ oz limoncello (dial it down if you find the taste a little too strong)
  • 15 ml / ½ oz pasteurized egg white
  • 15 ml / ½ oz simple syrup (dial it up if you prefer more sweetness ~ the limoncello is quite tart)

Method:

  1. Add ALL the ingredients to a shaker with ice.
  2. Usually you dry shake a mixture containing egg white first to emulsify the egg white and create a head of foam before chilling the mixture. But in this instance, you are trying to create a silky texture, not a head of foam.
  3. Fine strain into a chilled martini glass.

Garnish: lemon zest

Iced Norfolk Coffee

If you like the flavour of Turkish coffee you will love this iced Norfolk version of the coffee classic. Turkish coffee is traditionally served without milk and with plenty of foam on top. This deliciously chilled version dispenses with tradition to include silky smooth cream and syrup. Perfect for after dinner.

Glass: demitasse coffee cup

Ingredients:

  • 60 ml / 2 oz Norfolk Gin
  • 1 shot single espresso made from finely ground Arabic coffee
  • 15 ml / ½ oz single cream
  • 15 ml / ½ oz simple syrup

Method:

  • Make the espresso then chill in the fridge until ice cold.
  • Add all the ingredients to a shaker with ice.
  • Shake vigorously to create a foam head for your cocktail.
  • Pour into the demitasse coffee cup with a single cube of ice without straining to keep as much of the foam as possible.

Garnish: a Medjool date on the side

Amaretto Dream
