CLEANSE LIKE A GODDESS
Since the beginning of beauty time, the morning and evening ritual of bathing, cleansing, anointing, and dressing have been considered a sacred rite of passage that bestowed beauty on the bather, but also reset the Goddess power within. Charlottes Tilbury’s mission in life is to give every woman a magic makeup and skin day every day, and this January, she has bottled what she calls ‘a spa in a jar,’ into two quick and easy steps so you can look and feel like a Goddess every day!
"INTRODUCING THE GODDESS OF GLOW AND THE GODDESS OF ATTRACTION...“
I have always found that people tend to use drying cleansers that dehydrate and strip the skin! In our fast, get-it-now generation, lots of people are cleansing with a toxic face wipe and micellar water that doesn’t do anything apart from move chemicals around your face. My goddess skin ritual routine melts off makeup, gently moisturising and nourishing, whilst the charcoal purifies the complexion, drawing out blackheads, unblocks pores and eliminating any oiliness. I am lucky enough to have benefitted from Hollywood facials my whole life, and for me this was about bringing those backstage secrets to everyone in an educational, easy cleansing ritual with innovative, hard-working super-natural ingredients! Because everyone deserves Goddess Skin!” Charlotte Tilbury
THE SUPER NATURAL INGREDIENT POWERS
THE GODDESS OF GLOW RITUAL 1 - A MAGIC CITRUS OIL
Charlotte Tilbury’s first magic Goddess ritual is a coconut oil-based, Vitamin C-boosted skin wonder that melts your makeup. It is gentle on skin, but tough on makeup. It glides on as a gel and transforms into a lightweight yet powerful cleansing oil. The oil dissolves and binds with stubborn waterproof makeup particles. This is a “zero friction” formula.
Vitamin C – is a genius antioxidant for neutralizing free radicals and boosting collagen production, as well as reducing excess oil. It has a brightening effect, evening out skin tone for more radiant looking skin.
Bacuri Butter – This softening butter is sourced from the eastern Amazon rainforest in Northern Brazil. Bacuri butter has a high nutritional value and is rich in minerals such as Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium, vitamins D2, E, and K. Bacuri butter can improve skin barrier function whilst nourishing and moisturising the skin.
Inca Inchi Oil - dryness, scaliness, and loss of barrier function are improved with Inca Inchi oil. It contains one of the densest fatty acids that make this the ideal oil for the complexion.
Kalahari Watermelon Seed Oil –This oil is naturally rich in linolenic acid and is packed-full ofVitamins A, C, and E and it balances, calms, brightens and moisturises the skin. The light nature of the oil is very light means it works with oilier skin types as well.
Rose, Bergamot and Lemon Essential Oils – a blend of essential oils give a fresh, delicate scent.
THE GODDESS OF ATTRACTION RITUAL 2 - MAGIC CHARCOAL
This cream-to-foam formula tackles the deeper rooted environmental dirt that Charlotte Tilbury calls ‘everyday pollution.’
Bamboo Charcoal has been used for purification and detoxifying purposes since 1500 BC. Rich in nourishing calcium and magnesium, bamboo charcoal has unique ionic and textural absorption properties similar to a magnetic sponge, due to its microporous surface, enabling it to entrap impurities and environmental dirt. It behaves energetically using the magnetic attraction of negatively charged ions that come into contact with positively charged dirt.
Nordic Beauty Peat balances and soothes the complexion. Peat has active substances such as humic and fulvic acids, bio-minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and fatty acids that help re-establish the skin’s natural pH balance, replenishing and nourishing the skin.
Vitamin B3 improves the barrier function of the skin. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles, pore size and reduce the appearance of blemishes improving the clarity of the skin.
Rose, Bergamot and Lemon Essential Oils – Rose oil promotes calmness, bergamot is an enlivening scent, and lemon oil vapour causes an anti-stress effect...
‘First comes the citrus oil, second comes the charcoal, then comes fresh, healthy skin with a glowing sparkle!
These two cleansers are the Yin and Yang...Of how Goddess Skin began.... In perfect harmony. The charcoal draws out impurities... Working hard for you. The citrus oil nourishes, refreshes and renews...
THE HISTORY OF GODDESS CLEANSING
In 146BC, the Romans soaked in mosaic opulence, believing bathing to be a mental-physical therapy. Double-cleansing immersion, where they moved from a hot bath to a cold bath, was at the heart of the daily regime, followed by a deep cleanse with a ‘strigil,’ to detoxify and remove any impurities.
In 330BC, the Ancient Egyptians could be found in deep, decadent baths of citrus oils, almond oils, apple cider vinegar, honey, salt and milk. These routines were religiously undertaken in phasing, taking up to three to four hours at a time. Charcoal would be applied after bathing - a ritual for the teeth whitening, purification for the face, and intensifying Kohl on the eyes.
In 1000BC, Ancient Ayurvedic cleansing traditions in India evolved around the philosophy that if you couldn’t eat it, it didn’t belong on the skin. They believed cleansing to be cyclical in its ritual, all skincare must be edible otherwise it wasn’t safe for the complexion. Tulsi, saffron, amla, turmeric, sesame oil and sandalwood.
