Team Jarrold at Run Norwich: Trading Director, Tim Shattock's Story

Over the next few weeks we will be bringing you stories from our colleagues taking part in the Run Norwich 10K this summer. Whether you have got a place at this year’s Run Norwich 10K or you are wanting to improve your fitness this year, hopefully these stories will give you a little inspiration.

Jarrold Intersport are delighted to once again be the Official Retail Partner for Run Norwich, so much so that this year we are entering a Jarrold team. Over the next few weeks we will be introducing the members of this team, sharing their stories and following their progress to race day. Team Jarrold are raising money through sponsorship for the Jarrold 250 Charity Initiative supporting The Big C, The Princes Trust and the EACH Nook Appeal.

Run Norwich takes place on Sunday 21 July 2019 and is an award-winning 10-kilometre road race, organised by the Norwich City FC Community Sports Foundation (CSF). The run takes place in the heart of Norwich’s beautiful and historic city centre, passing some of the city’s most iconic landmarks including Norwich Castle, The Forum, Norwich Cathedral, and many more.

All 7500 places have sold out.

Trading Director for Jarrold Intersport, Tim's Story:

The Jarrold Team for Run Norwich 2019 includes colleagues from across the company who all share the same passion to raise as much as possible for the Jarrold 250 Charity Initiative.

We caught up with team member, Tim Shattock, the Trading Director of Jarrold Intersport to find out more about his journey to RN19.

Why are you taking part in Run Norwich 19?

I love to run, its great exercise for the body and mind and it really helps me to escape and relax from the pressures of modern life. I work closely with the team in our newly refurbished sports store who are passionate about sport and the local community and events, and excited that Jarrold Intersport are once again the official retail partner of Run Norwich 19.

What has been your inspiration to run the race?

I’m taking part in Run Norwich because running for Charity is a real win win. I can help support the work of key charities making a real difference to our community, whilst keeping fit and having fun at the same time.

Do you have any running experience?

I began running around 2 years ago after taking my son to local Park Runs, where together we grew to really enjoy the social and competitive side of running. At Parkrun the community feel is fantastic, we’ve met many inspirational people and made a lot of new friends. With the support I received at Park Run, I have been encouraged to run several local races, including the recent and rather challenging Ringland half marathon.

What is your training plan?

I will mainly be running for fun and with my children to prepare for Run Norwich, but I do like to set myself new challenges and goals to keep me driven and satisfy my competitive nature. Therefore, my training plan for Run Norwich will involve a mixture of regular 5k Parkruns, 10k runs and the occasional longer run when I can fit it in.

I’m really proud to be a part of Team Jarrold and to take part in Run Norwich 2019. It is a fantastic event which is making a real difference to the community!
