Team Jarrold at Run Norwich: Jenna's Story

Over the next few weeks we will be bringing you stories from our colleagues taking part in the Run Norwich 10K this summer. Whether you have got a place at this year’s Run Norwich 10K or you are wanting to improve your fitness this year, hopefully these stories will give you a little inspiration.

Jarrold Intersport are delighted to once again be the Official Retail Partner for Run Norwich, so much so that this year we are entering a Jarrold team. Over the next few weeks we will be introducing the members of this team, sharing their stories and following their progress to race day. Team Jarrold are raising money through sponsorship for the Jarrold 250 Charity Initiative supporting The Big C, The Princes Trust and the EACH Nook Appeal.

Run Norwich takes place on Sunday 21 July 2019 and is an award-winning 10-kilometre road race, organised by the Norwich City FC Community Sports Foundation (CSF). The run takes place in the heart of Norwich’s beautiful and historic city centre, passing some of the city’s most iconic landmarks including Norwich Castle, The Forum, Norwich Cathedral, and many more.

All 7500 places have sold out.

Jenna Run Norwich

Jenna's Story:

At Jarrold we take pride in our team of colleagues, both past and present, and often maintain strong connections when a colleague moves onto their next venture. Like Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner and former Jarrold employee, Jenna Slaughter, who will be joining Team Jarrold as they take on Run Norwich this summer.

We caught up with Jenna to find out how she plans to take on Run Norwich!

What is your connection to Jarrold?

I worked for Jarrold Sports whilst at school and also worked at Jarrold during my gap year. I have now been a nurse at the NNUH since 2013, but as my Mum is the Marketing Manager at Jarrold I have maintained a close connection to the store, and am often volunteered for events, including this race!

Do you have any running experience?

I have always been keen on sport, taking part in many different sporting activities over the years, including joining a Korfball Team whilst I was studying at the UEA. However I only really started running in the last few months, but have already taken part in a couple of 5K races!

What is your training plan?

My current plan is to just try and run whenever I can, what’s not easy with my busy schedule working as a nurse. The best thing I have done though is join the Jarrold Run Club, as I’ve found the motivation of running with other people and the training programme Bronwyn has devised are really helping me!

Have you faced any challenges?

In the past I have had some problems and 3 operations on a knee which has sometimes hindered my sporting ambitions, however this won’t stop me completing Run Norwich! I’m really pleased to be part of the Jarrold Run Norwich team and to be able to help them to raise 1k for the Jarrold Charities – Big C, The Princes Trust and EACH Nook appeal - it’s going to be a great day!
