Jarrold Intersport are delighted to once again be the Official Retail Partner for Run Norwich, so much so that this year we are entering a Jarrold team. Over the next few weeks we will be introducing the members of this team, sharing their stories and following their progress to race day. Team Jarrold are raising money through sponsorship for the Jarrold 250 Charity Initiative supporting The Big C, The Princes Trust and the EACH Nook Appeal.
Run Norwich takes place on Sunday 21 July 2019 and is an award-winning 10-kilometre road race, organised by the Norwich City FC Community Sports Foundation (CSF). The run takes place in the heart of Norwich’s beautiful and historic city centre, passing some of the city’s most iconic landmarks including Norwich Castle, The Forum, Norwich Cathedral, and many more.
All 7500 places have sold out.
Here is Bronwyn's story...
The Group Runners - Bronwyn & The Jarrold Intersport Run Club
Putting on guided runs and training sessions around Norwich City Centre every week, the Jarrold Intersport Run Club are looking forward to entering Run Norwich once again this year. We caught up with one of the group leaders Bronwyn, to find out more about how the Run Club are approaching the challenge of running this years 10km…
Why did you decide to take part in Run Norwich?
As the ladies running and fitness specialist at Jarrold Intersport, I am lucky enough to have been given a place at Run Norwich to support the Jarrold Intersport Run Club, the weekly running group I lead with my colleague Dom.
What is your running experience?
I have been running since I was 14, and started by taking part in school and charity events. I now find running very cathartic, as it is my way of releasing stress, so feel lucky to be able to combine this passion with my work.
Since starting the Run Club in 2017, we have hosted weekly 5km runs around Norwich City Centre, and last year entered Run Norwich as a team. I ran with Run Club members Elly and Tracey to support them around the course, and together we completed the race in an amazing 64 minutes.
What has been your inspiration to run the race?
Since the 2018 Run Norwich, with help from the run club, many of our members have been able to reduce their running times, inspiring us to enter the 2019 Run Norwich and beat our previous race times. I am really looking forward to supporting the club once again in a long distance race, whilst also being able to raise money as a team for our Jarrold Charity Initiative, benefiting Big C, EACH Nook Appeal and The Princes Trust!
Do you have a training plan?
I have put together a 12 week training plan for run club members to help support the runners as they work towards reaching their 10km target.
The plan features a gradual increase in distance from our usual club 5km to 10km, with 3 running sessions per week. By completing a long distance and mid distance run once a week, combined with an effort session (such as hill or interval training) we hope members will be able to gradually build up the stamina needed to complete the challenging Run Norwich course, but in a fun and supportive way!
In need of some support to kick start your running? Then the Jarrold Intersport Run Club is for you.
Join us for guided runs around Norwich every Monday & Thursday evening from 6pm. The club starts at Jarrold Intersport and the routes will vary each week covering between 2.5-5km, with distances increasing as we approach Run Norwich 2019.
