Jarrold loves...Pilch Run Club

Regular exercise should be part of your day to day lifestyle, but sometimes we all need a bit of inspiration. How about joining the Pilch Run Club? We caught up with Run Club leaders Bronwyn and Dom to find out why they enjoy running…

What do you love about running?

Bronwyn: For me running is very cathartic, it is my way of releasing stress with the added bonus of being great for improving cardiovascular fitness.

Dom: I love running because it’s simple; no kit is required. Unlike some sports, it’s not time consuming and anyone can do it!

Where do you like to run?

Bronwyn: As I grew up in the countryside I enjoy scenic routes and trail running, however, since living in the city I have found some good routes near the river.

Dom: I enjoy running off road as it means I can get out of the city, see the views and breathe in the fresh air of the countryside.

What’s your favourite distance?

Bronwyn: My favourite distance is definitely 5km, I like challenging myself and trying to improve my PBs and because it is a relatively short distance it’s easy to fit in runs before or after work.

Dom: 10K is my preferred distance because you’re out there long enough to feel like you’ve accomplished something, without taking up too much of your time.

What are you training for?

Bronwyn: Currently I am training to increase my fitness and get back to my best running time rather than a particular race.

Dom: I’m hoping to enter a half marathon at some point this year.  I'm just waiting to find the perfect one for me.

What race would you love to enter?

Bronwyn: I would love to enter the Inca Trail marathon in Peru, although it’s a longer distance than I would normally run, the views would be amazing and it would be an unforgettable experience!

Dom: I would love to enter the Rock n Roll half marathon in Las Vegas. It’s 13.1 miles long and held at night, making the views something worth running for.

What’s your favourite running shoe?

Bronwyn: Currently I run in Nike Lunarglides which I am getting on with really well, they’re lightweight yet cushioned and ideal for the distances I like to run.

Dom: I’m currently loving the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18- as it’s just fantastic. Such a lightweight, well cushioned and supportive shoe. What more could you ask for?

What running item, other than trainers, could you not live without?

Bronwyn: I think the beauty of running is that you can do it with minimal equipment, however, I could not run without my Odlo high support sports bra.  It's padded so really comfortable but still offers the high support you need when running and mesh inserts mean it has good ventilation, keeping me dry and comfortable as I’m running.

Dom: My TomTom Runner 3 watch. I love being able to track my runs, seeing how I have improved and what I can do to get even faster.
