On Wednesday 9th November we welcomed guests to the Top Of The Terrace restaurant at Norwich City Football Ground for the Jarrold Autumn Literary Lunch.
The usual delicious meal, courtesy of Delia Smith's Canary Catering company, was followed by speeches by our three guest authors. First, local author D.J. Taylor talked entertainingly about The New Book of Snobs, in which he updates Thackeray's classic book on snobs and snobbery. Then we welcomed novelist Clare Harvey, whose novels about women in wartime are winning increasing numbers of readers. Her latest, The English Agent, is out now. Finally, continuing the military theme, General the Lord Dannatt spoke fascinatingly about his new book,
Boots On The Ground, a history of Britain and its army since 1945.
After the formal part of the lunch had finished, diners had the opportunity to buy books and to meet and talk with the three authors, while getting their copies signed and dedicated.
The next Jarrold literary lunch will be in Spring 2017.
