Ask the home stylist: How to get the retro look

The greenery trend this year is reminiscent of the 1970s when bringing the outside in reigned supreme – and the 70s style is back this summer. Here’s how you can get a retro feel to your home, says The Granary home stylist Linda French.

Isn’t it funny how styles come and go – and then come back again? It wasn’t too long ago that we were embracing the 1950s look complete with cake stands, tea cups and saucers and a colour palette of pastel pink and blue. If you like adding a bit of kitsch to your home, 2018 is all about reliving the 1970s.

Here’s how you can get the look – with a 2018 twist.

Look for retro colours such as fern green, mustard, teal and orange. Mixing at least two of these colours will instantly bring a retro feel to a room.
