Style Influences: with Retro Chick Gemma Seager
At Jarrold we’re all for shouting as loudly as we can about our great fashion brands and for spreading the word far and wide. With Norwich Fashion Week following that of New York, London, Milan and Paris, we had an idea to call in some top local fashion bloggers to take influences from what they’d seen on the catwalk and recreate some looks instore. Norwich girl Gemma Seager is the name behind vintage blog ‘Retro Chick’. Gemma loves nothing more than putting her own personal style into outfits and looks and she fell in love with the pastel and fur combinations as seen in Orla Kiely’s AW14 London runway show.
Look One: Polka Dot Chic
Gemma loved this polka dot dress with a fur collar and picked out a shift dress from Jacques Vert with a faux fur collar taken from a Minuet jacket. Teamed with nude Carvela shoes she wore her own belt and tights. Minus the fur, the shift dress has puffed sleeves and a scalloped neckline. Gemma accessorised with a piece of wide ribbon as a hairband to create a signature 60’s look.

Look Two: Fabulous Nudes
For Gemma’s second look, she chose another Orla Kiely inspired cream dress from Jacques Vert in a similar colour palette of nudes with black. This dress had a bit of a 1930s vibe, which she put together with a cloche style hat, a Lulu Guinness bag and her own black elastic belt, although the dress came with a ribbon belt.
Look Three: Bold Blues
Gemma then tried on a blue Hobbs shift dress as she’d loved the catwalk blues of Richard NicholPetrol blue came through as a predominant colour, however it didn’t suit her look though and instead she paired a 50’s inspired dress from Phase Eight which did pick out the same blue hues with a black jacket with a fur collar and thick black tights. Teamed with her own vintage hat, we think she looks stunning and based on these looks, we’re looking forward to AW14 already!
