Hold on to Summer
Let’s hope we have an Indian summer this year, and can enjoy many balmy days before the cooler season sets in. Autumn will arrive soon enough and with it the leaves will change from green to brown and we will see darker shades coming through in both fashion and interiors. Before this happens, let’s hang on to a pretty summery tone – pink. Lots of exciting new brands are arriving this month that suit this theme perfectly, so let me tell you about them.
Suzie Abel is the Beauty Buyer here at Jarrold.
Lancome, City Miracle CC Cream SPF50
Yes, they are still here and still hot news – CC creams are all the rage as they answer so many women’s complexion needs. They even out like a foundation, hydrate like a moisturiser, protect against UV like a sunscreen, fight shine like a powder, and this new product from Lancome does all these things perfectly. It’s quick and easy to use and doesn’t give you that heavily made-up look that some foundations can, available in three shades £27.
Clinique, Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturising Lip Colour Balm and Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm
What a mouthful! Although “Chubbies” have been around for a while, these new additions are terrific. The Lip Balm, in four shades, offers a sheer tint that enhances your own natural lip colour £17, and the Cheek Balm, also in four shades, gives a soft and creamy hint of colour £19.
Heathcote & Ivory, Secret Paradise range*
The vibrancy of this collection just blows
you away – it’s absolutely gorgeous. Pink
flamingos and fluttering hummingbirds
in shocking pink and crimson dance
across the packaging. For the fragrance,
think of the scent of tropical flowers
blanketing the forest floor of a secret
paradise, and you have it. The initial notes
of cassis, plum and lychee give way to
the heart notes of Madagascan violets
and lily of the valley, and cedar wood and
sandalwood hold the fragrance. There are 16 different products starting from £3.50. Two of my favourites are the Bathing Flowers £10 and the Hand Cream £7.
She Who Dares, Eminence and Dalliance
Two lovely fragrances that I have talked about before. Created by the amazing Rachel Lowe MBE, the brand is all about celebrating the remarkable women in your life who you feel deserve a “thank you and well done”. Or maybe you think you deserve a pat on the back so why not treat yourself, 50ml £45, exclusive to Jarrolds.
The Vintage Cosmetic Company^
I’m really excited about bringing this brand into Jarrold’s Beauty Hall as it’s such fun and so affordable. From makeup brushes and false eyelashes to emery boards and manicure sets – there’s everything you can think of in beauty accessories, all packaged in the prettiest vintage style – they’re all irresistible and from only £6. Shown here – Manicure Set £10, makeup bag £6, Nancy lashes £6, makeup brush roll £10.
