Jarrold 250 Years: A History

About The Book

The book tells the story from the early days when John Jarrold opened a small shop in Woodbridge, Suffolk, to the thriving 21st century business it is today.

The story begins in the reign of George III, and continues throughout the entire Victorian era. It stretches through the two world wars of the twentieth century and into the new millennium. Based in Norwich since 1823 Jarrold is a company that has embraced the vast social and technological developments of a huge sweep of time. Given unfettered access to the extensive Jarrold Archives, and drawing on some never previously published material. Pete Goodrum has written the first history of the company in almost a century.

Outstanding independent retailers, world class printers, legendary publishers, leading business training providers and visionary property developers, the Jarrold family has, for seven generations, taken the risks, made the decisions and committed itself to commerce and philanthropy.
