Ask the stylists: How do I accessorise my outfit for a special occasion such as the Royal Norfolk Show?

The next big event on the social calendar is the Royal Norfolk Show, and whether you want to wear your best dress or go for something a bit more casual, accessories can make or break an outfit. Our personal stylists Florrie Dunn and Kate Reeve give their tips on how to get it right

Turning your outfit into something that looks stylish and pulled together can be easy to achieve if you wear the right accessorises.

If you are scared about accessorising, keep it simple. Matching the colour of your shoes to your bag, headwear and jewellery is a timelessly classic look and is an easy way to turn a simple dress into an outfit that has the wow factor. Choose a colour that contrasts with your dress, such as this steely, metallic grey, which goes well with the royal blue of this dress:

Ted Baker draped asymmetric mid blue dress, £179, BUY ONLINE; Ted Baker Oriental sandals, £110; Libby Bea cloud fascinator, £39; Senia pearl necklace, £20.30 (in sale) and LK Bennett silver Nina clutch, £148. All available instore.

If you like experimenting with your style and want an outfit that looks like you have your finger on the fashion pulse, wear different colour accessories. Clash colours and mix materials, but keep your outfit to no more than three colours and a neutral so that your look is still well put together. A low or wedge heel is practically stylish, especially if you are going to be on your feet all day and/or walking on grass!

Michael Kors jumpsuit, £195; Boss Orange denim jacket, £159; Carl Scarpa Evelyn sandals, £89 and LK Bennett orange bag, £72 (in sale). All available instore.
