In Full Bloom

Crabtree & Evelyn Pear and Pink MagnoliaCrabtree & Evelyn, Pear and Pink Magnolia range
The enticing aroma of fresh, juicy pear is blended with the delicate floral notes of pink magnolia, jasmine and osmanthus in this new aromatic, botanical scent. The juice is a beautiful pink colour and as the fragrance falls into the fruity floral family, it’s really on trend. The 30ml eau de toilette is very affordable at £20, as is the body care collection – body wash £15, body lotion £16, body soufflé £22, soap £6 and hand therapy £15.

May blossom and flowering cherries in full bloom make a wonderful sight as do the early flowering plants, some with a gorgeously heady aroma. Mown grass and the scent of the warm countryside assault the senses, so I thought I would include some new fragrances this month that reflect this time of the year perfectly, together with some other exciting new launches. Do give them a try.

Issey Miyake, Pleats PleaseIssey Miyake, Pleats Please L’Eau
The crazy bottle reflecting his haute couture look is here again with this new lighter, airier addition to the family. His Pleats Please collections first hit the catwalk in 1993, with single pieces of fabric hand-fed into a heat press to create permanent tiny pleats and garments that move and sway sensuously. The fragrance is a delightful combination of rose and white musk to suit the warmer season perfectly, 50ml £46.

Cartier, La PanthereCartier, La Panthere

Some of you may remember the original Panthere created in 1986 – a heady, powerful and sensuous fragrance named after Cartier’s lover. This new scent has many of the attributes of the original, but with the added notes of dried fruits and rhubarb in the top notes, gardenia in the heart, and musk and oakmoss in the base to replace the original animalic notes. The result is a soft, caressing fragrance that is outrageously sexy at the same time, for those moments when you really want to make an impression. The bottle has the panther’s face cleverly etched into it and his eyes follow you as you move round the room – no really! 50ml £71.50.

Aqua MandaAqua Manda

If flared jeans, platform shoes, hot pants, Vidal Sassoon bobs and Twiggy take you right back to your youth (like me), then the chances are you will recall Aqua Manda. Well, it’s back! One spritz of the mandarin based scent transported me back to the ‘60s and ‘70s in a flash and yet it somehow feels comfortable in 2014 too, 30ml purse spray £27.50, exclusive to Jarrolds*.

Clinique Lash Power Feathering MascaraClinique, Lash Power Feathering Mascara

Love at first flutter. New technology has provided a soft and plush brush with fluffy yet densely packed bristles to scoop the mascara out of the barrel and deposit it at the base of the lash line. As the brush sweeps from lash root to tip, the lashes separate and stretch to maximise their length. Allergy tested, 100 per cent fragrance free, ophthalmologist tested, safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers and even removable with warm water, it’s a gentle way to achieve fabulous lashes, £18.
