A Time For Planning

A Time for Planning

Suzie AbelIt’s unbelievable that October is here already. There is always a terrific sense of anticipation in store this month as we plan our final ranges and displays for the busiest time of year – but more about the festive season next month. This time, I’ve got some fabulous new ranges to show you, and there just might be the hint of a gift idea in there somewhere.

Suzie Abel is the Beauty Buyer here at Jarrold.

Molton Brown, Oudh Accord & Gold

Molton Brown, Oudh Accord
Oudh is a precious smoky wood from the Middle East – so precious that it is often referred to as liquid gold. Arabian Oudh fragrances are all-pervading in the malls of the Middle East where they have always been a favourite, but more recently demand has grown in the European market for this powerful, woody/spicy scent. Cleverly Molton Brown have combined it with another luxury ingredient – gold – to create this decadent and luxurious new Bath and Body range. Gold flakes are actually infused in the formula – it looks amazing. Feel like a film star in your own bathroom! 300ml body wash £20, 300ml body lotion £26.

Annick Goutal, Vent de Folie

Annick Gotal, Vent de FolieAnother enticing floral from the French parfumiere, with a fruity twist. Blood Orange and Blackcurrant sit happily alongside Musk and Cedar to produce a pretty fragrance that will appeal to many, 100ml £84, exclusive to Jarrolds.

Sanderson, Dandelion Clocks range

Sanderson Dandelion Clocks

Sanderson is an internationally renowned interior design house and was granted a Royal Warrant in 1923. They still supply fabrics, paint and wall coverings to the Queen and British royal palaces. This instantly recognisable retro pattern has translated beautifully into a contemporary Bath, Body and Home Fragrance collection and makes a perfect gift. The scent is fresh and clean, with Tea, Watercress, Mint and Rose on a musky base, and the products are free from parabens and sulfates – from £3.

Neal’s Yard Remedies

Neals Yard Remedies

We are so excited to see this natural, safe and ethical brand in the store at last. The trademark blue apothecary bottles make such a bold statement on the shelves. Founded over 30 years ago in a tiny yard tucked away near Trafalgar Square, it’s now distributed in five continents. The whole range is amazing but the products I particularly love are the Rejuvenating Frankincense Cleanser (£19.50), Aromatic Foaming Bath (£15), and the Melissa Hand Cream (£13.50).

Morris & Co, Golden Lily Collection

Morris and Co, Golden Lily Range

“I know a little garden close-set with lily and red rose, where I would wander if I might from dewy dawn to dewy night” – instantly recognisable as a William Morris design, Golden Lily is a glorious example of his love of nature, featuring lily flowers and country blooms intertwined with swaying briar leaves. The fragrance has a top note of Tangerine, heart note of Cinnamon and Nutmeg, and a deep base of Cedar Wood – a really lovely scent, from £5.

Narciso, eau de parfum

Narciso, eu de parfumNarciso Rodriguez is a marvellous American designer of Cuban descent who started his career with Donna Karan and Calvin Klein. In 1997 he launched his own label and designed the wedding dress for Carolyn Bessette on her marriage to John F Kennedy Jnr. Michelle Obama is also a fan. In 2007, he created his first fragrances, for her and for him. Now we have his brand new scent Narciso, which is intensely feminine and sexy – with elegant Vetiver; Musk, Gardenia and Bulgarian Rose at its heart; and voluptuous Amber at the base. It’s a new favourite for me, 50ml £58.
