An Illustrated Guide to the Medieval Altarpiece in Norwich Cathedral
Author: Paul Hurst & Phillip McFadyen
This wonderful object was one of the highlights of the Masterpieces exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre and is one of the treasures of the cathedral. Paul Hurst (who previously published Norfolk Rood Screens and Norwich Cathedral Nave Bosses) brings his customary skill to the photography of religious iconography. This isn't a huge book - just over forty pages - but on high quality paper and packed with fascinating text by Phil McFadyen and Paul's colour photographs of the famous panels - only saved from destruction at the time of the Reformation by being disguised as a table top and only rediscovered in Victorian times.
