Author: Eimear McBride
It apparently took the author nine years to find a publisher for her debut novel about an Irish childhood. Finally, Norwich publishers Galley Beggar Press spotted what others hadn't: that here is a fantastic piece of writing - deep, dark, passionate - that deserves the numerous literary honours it subsequently garnered, including winning the inaugural Goldsmiths Award. Now here is the paperback edition, published by Faber. As Anne Enright said in the Guardian, "Eimear McBride is that old-fashioned thing, a genius."
